# How to suspend the renewals of a subscription?

| In this article we will see how it is possible to suspend a subscription for a given period.

${color}[#ffb300](The renewal of the subscription is fixed at the anniversary date of the subscription.)
__Example:__ For a monthly subscription subscribed on March 15, 2019, the first renewal will take place on April 15, 2019. 

On the anniversary date of the subscription:  
1. **the subscription is renewed:** the amount of the subscription is added to the customer's balance.
2. **the customer is invoiced:${color}[#ffb300]( )**the amount of the balance is invoiced.

When a subscription is renewed, the amount of the subscription is added to the customer's balance.

## ${color}[#ffb300](Billing date)

On the billing date, the customer is invoiced the amount of his balance. 

# ${color}[#6964e0](How to suspend a subscription?)

To suspend a subscription, [simply change the renewal date](https://aide.payfacile.com/en/article/how-to-change-the-renewal-date-of-a-subscription-174c27a/) of the subscription.

Imagine that it is July, your customer's subscription must be renewed on August 5th but you wish to suspend it and restart it in September: all you have to do is to shift the renewal date to September 5th. 

If the customer's balance is 0€ on the invoice date, the invoice will not be produced.
